Spectricity is a recently started spin-off of imec, a leading R&D center in nanoelectronics and digital technologies in Belgium. Spectricity develops novel miniaturized, integrated spectral sensing devices for the fields of agriculture, food analysis, health, and biomedical applications for industrial and consumer markets. Within the dynamic, multidisciplinary and growing team of technologists, engineers and application experts, we are looking for an enthusiastic Software Engineer. **Your main responsibilities will be to** - Taking software ownership over existing applications, proposing and implementing improvements. - Planning and executing development of new (desktop) applications based on internal customer (engineering) needs - e.g. measurement automation, data collection and visualization. - Reviewing code and guiding engineers that use code daily but are not programmers, towards a better overall quality of infrastructure.
- You have a master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Sciences or similar relevant degree by proven experience - Software engineering, rather than just coding, is your trade. You are comfortable at all levels of abstraction, from architecture planning to debugging of the low-level driver code. - You are not afraid of any programming task needed to get the work done efficiently, whether it requires using Python, Matlab, Javascript, Embedded-C or anything around. - You are proficient with Python. - You have in the past developed standalone desktop application with a Qt-based GUI, preferably using Python bindings. - Git and continuous integration and unit tests are the tools you use daily, you can solve any Git-related glitches without problems. - You are comfortable developing for Windows, MacOS and Linux. Android/iOS development history is a plus. - Experience with deploying applications in a cloud environment (GCP) would be a plus. - You keep up to date with all newest trends, e.g. Flutter, Spark, Cloud deployment, etc. - You are fluent in English, and have good presentation skills
